iGov Africa is proud to make yet another addition to the board. Introducing Umberto Tavolato who will be joining as a board member at iGov Africa.
His experience spans over 15 years in diplomacy that scopes through Europe, Africa and the Arab world. Currently based in the United Arab Emirates, Umberto was an adviser to the Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs of the European Union foreign service (European External Action Service). Prior to that, he worked as a European Union diplomat in Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya. He has also been a European Union adviser to the African Union supporting through funding and facilitation the African Union activities working closely with the Office of the AU Chairpersons, AU Directors, African Special Envoys and former Heads of State. He also holds a postgraduate degree in international relations and African studies and speaks Kiswahili.
His knowledge, understanding, and strong network across Africa have distinguished himself as a reliable and valuable source of analysis on African dynamics in policy making circles in Europe and the Middle East. Umberto believes in investing in young entrepreneurship and technological platforms as the most effective ways to support the development and overcome the infrastructural gap in African emerging markets. This is much needed in steering the iGov Africa vision forward.
